The Magnolia Lacy Crochet Bra Top is a free and easy crochet pattern that is made to measure, size inclusive and designed to be intuitive and beginner friendly.
The Magnolia Lacy Crochet Bra Top is designed to be a delicate crochet bra top pattern. It uses a finer stitch and finer yarn compared to The Bondi Beach Crop Crochet Bra Top. We love designing and crocheting bra tops. They are quick to work up and it’s so rewarding to watch everything take shape … fast! You can be creative in how you design the tie back, the band and even the edging on the side of the cups.
We are trying to keep all our crochet patterns free for everyone, when you access them online. We meet the costs of running this website through coffee donations at https://ko-fi.com/kiksandjackcrochet and ad revenue. When you buy us a cup of coffee, you buy us a cup of motivation. Thank you for keeping us motivated and inspired every day to keep designing free crochet patterns for you.
You will also love bra tops because you can style them under so many outfits. We all have tops that are slightly sheer, have wide shoulders or a low back. Finding a bra to match can be challenging and expensive (especially if you have to purchase one type of bra for one type of top). However crocheting your own bra top allows you to pick the exact colour and style you need to match your top.
Need a specific bra strap colour to wear with a specific off the shoulder top? Or need a specific bra colour to match a netted mesh or sheer top? Crochet it! For example, make the Magnolia Lacy Crochet Bra Top in light blue to wear under The Nusa Mesh Net Crochet Long Sleeved Sweater.
Of course you can also wear them on their own. Wear them at the beach over long maxi skirts or denim shorts. Have a great summer beach bottom that needs a matching coloured bikini top? Just make it with the perfect yarn to match!
Let’s talk about yarn! We used a brand called MillaMia Naturally Soft Cotton in Off White. It’s 100% cotton and a weight 2/Fine/Sport. This yarn is gorgeous and crocheting with it along with fine delicate stitches gives the bralette the top strength and structure. The great thing about this yarn is that it’s also incredibly soft.
Let’s get started on the Magnolia Lacy Crochet Bra Top!

MEASUREMENTS & SIZES
The Magnolia Lacy Crochet Bra Top pattern instructions are made to measure, based on your required measurements.
Kiks + Jack Crochet will always try to write patterns that are “made to measure” (versus graded sized patterns) so that crocheters can get the wonderful benefits of making a garment that fits perfectly.
To use this pattern you will need the following measurements and you should write them down for easy reference:
Bottom of Breast to Nipple: Measure from the lowest part of your breast up to the centre of your nipple
Width of Breast: Measure the width of your breast at it’s widest, from one side over the breast to the other side
Below your Chest/Bust: Measure around BELOW your chest/bust. Do not draw the tape too tightly.
CROCHET GAUGE
Using a 3.5mm crochet hook approximately 18 stitches and 12 rows of single crochet in 4โณ x 4โณ (10 cm x 10 cm).
Note the Magnolia Lacy Crochet Bra Top pattern is made to measure and can accommodate for different crochet gauges. However try to select a yarn with a similar gauge to this version.

Yarn brand: MillaMia Naturally Soft Cotton Weight 2/Fine/Sport. 50g skein and 180 yards (or 165m).
Kiks + Jack’s bra is sized for an XS and used 165 yards or 150m. Colour used is off white.
3.5 mm crochet hook (US size 4). We use many different crochet hooks and if you are looking for some great budget friendly ergonomic crochet hooks try these from Amazon. It comes in a set and the grip and the shape is amazing for beginner crocheters. However our absolute favourite, slightly more pricey crochet hooks are clover crochet hooks. You can buy then in a set or individually.
Measuring Tape. We use a super budget friendly measuring tape. Make sure it has cm and inches (not all patterns are written with both). We are always crocheting on the go so we like our tapes small and compact and we put one in our design area, one in our bag and one in our car. Retractable works best! We use these super cheap mini measuring tapes from Amazon.
Stitch Markers. We use these locking crochet stitch markers from Amazon and these stitch markers that do not lock. They are cheap and colourful.
Blocking Pins. You should buy more pins than you think you need. If you are going to take the time to block don’t skimp on the pins. We like T shaped stainless steel pins that don’t rust when they get wet. We love these blocking T pins from Amazon and the tin means the pins don’t fall out on the floor.
Yarn Needle. Buy blunt needles with large eyes for yarn. We use these Yarn Needles because we like the convenient bottle, they are budget friendly and we get lots of them!
Scissors. We love these thread snippers because they are cheap, we get two of them AND they come with a case (some don’t). Don’t carry these without the case! After you use thread snippers you won’t want to snip with scissors.

SUMMARY of CONSTRUCTION for The Magnolia Lacy Crochet Bra Top
The Magnolia Lacy Crochet Bra Top is made by first crocheting two breast cups. We will then crochet the band that fits below the chest area. The cups will be seamed on to the band. Next string ties will be crocheted to secure the band and the cups at the back and neck. There is an optional customization to use buttons to secure the bra instead of a tie string.

PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS for The Magnolia Lacy Crochet Bra Top
Crochet the Bra Cup (Make 2)
Chain a length equal to your “Bottom of Breast to Nipple Measurement“
For the Kiks + Jack Crochet version we chained 18.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across until you reach the last ch. Place 3sc into the last ch. Place a stitch marker in the second stitch of these 3sc. You will now crochet on the OTHER side of the chain (you are crocheting around the chain), sc to the end. Turn
Row 2: ch 1, sc back up the chain until you reach the stitch marker (the middle stitch of the 3sc). Remove the stitch marker and place 3sc into this stitch. Place the stitch marker back in the second stitch of the 3sc. Continue down the other side, sc to the end. Turn.
Tip: A good way to think of the cup designs is crocheting from side to side over the initial ch 12.
Continue row 2 until the cup is big enough to cover the breast or equal to your “width of breast measurement”. Turn.
Tip: It is better to place the cup over your breast to determine how many row 2s you should crochet (versus using the width of breast measurement). Some like a lot of coverage and some like less. Your preference may or may not be less than your width of breast measurement.
Don’t fasten off. We will move directly on to the edging for the bra cup.
Crochet the Bra Cup Edging
Row 1: ch4, sk st, *hdc into next st, ch1, sk st, rep* until end of the other side of the cup. Turn
Row 2: repeat row 1
Fasten off.
Tip: If you get to the top of the bra cup (where you have placed a stitch marker) and you need to start turning to the other side, you can place sc into these three st to assist the turn. If you cannot complete the stitch pattern you can end by placing an hdc in the last st.
Crochet the Bra Band
Chain a length that is equal to your “Below your Chest Bust Measurement” minus 5 inches and count the stitches at the same time. Make sure you end on an ODD number of stitches.
Wrap this chain below your breasts. The ends are not supposed to meet and a gap of approximately 5 inches is good. You will be adding back tie strings later.
Optional customization using buttons at the back instead of a tie string: If you would like to secure your bra band using a button instead of tie strings, then you need to crochet this chain so that it is equal to “Below your Chest Bust Measurement“. Make sure you end on an ODD number of stitches.
Row 1: ch3, dc into the 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch until end. Turn.
Row 2: ch3, dc in 2nd st, dc in each st until end. Turn
Row 3: ch 4, dc in 3rd st, *ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in next st, rep from * until end. Turn
Row 4: ch 4, skip ch-1 sp, dc in next st, *ch 1, skip ch-1 sp, dc in next st; rep from * until last ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc into 3rd tch. Turn.
Row 5: ch4, *tc in ch-1 sp, tc in next st; rep from * until last ch-1 sp, tc into ch-1 sp, tc into 3rd tch. Turn.
Row 6: ch4, tc in first st, tc in each st to the end. Turn
Row 7: ch2, hdc in each st until end.
Repeat Rows 1 – 7 until you are satisfied with the width of the band.
Fasten off.
Crochet the Tie Strings
If you are securing your bra band with buttons you do not need to crochet the back tie strings. You only need to crochet the neck tie strings.
Back Tie Strings (make 2): ch 50. Fasten off.
Neck Tie Strings (make 2): ch 100. Fasten off.
Assemble Cups and Band
Place a stitch marker at the centre point on the top of the bra band.
Take one of your cups and place the right side facing down on the right side of the band. Make sure the edge of the cup lines up with the stitch marker.
With a yarn needle and matching yarn, seam the first cup and the band together.
Repeat with the second cup making sure the edge of the cup lines up with the stitch marker on the other side.
Your two breast cups should now be attached to the bra band.
Attach Tie Strings or Buttons
Weave one neck tie string through the top of one cup. Thread it through the back of the cup at the halfway point of the tie string so that two strings come up to the neck together. Weave the other neck tie string through the top of the other cup. You should be able to tie the four strings together at the neck.
If you are using tie strings, then weave one back tie string through the end of the bra band width wise. Weave the other back tie string through the other end of the band width wise. You should be able to tie the two strings together to secure the band tightly.
If you are using buttons, then place the bra on and place two stitch markers where the buttons should be. Make sure it is secure and sew the buttons in place. As the bra band is stringy you can place the buttons through one of the holes however you will need to ensure the buttons are large enough.
