This blog was started specifically for beginners. One of the best things is receiving emails and photos from crocheters using our beginner-friendly crochet patterns to create their first wearable projects! Crochet is amazing because itโs joyful, creative, part of the slow fashion movement, and something you can do whether you have five minutes or five hours to spare. A crocheted piece connects people, families, friends, and even strangers.
We are always told to make time for ourselves, but honestly, itโs really hard to do. Crochet is the one thing we can always make time for, and thereโs only one reason for that. We can pick it up whenever we have a few spare minutes. We can crochet while watching a movie with friends, waiting for appointments, or doing mindless stitches while chatting with family over Zoom (they actually know we listen better and longer when our hands are busy!).
As a result, we went from having โno time for a hobbyโ to finding lots of little pockets of time in our day. And itโs so rewarding to use those little moments to work on this beautiful craft. Weโll never forget finishing a kidโs multicolored hooded sweater years ago, made entirely with โspare timeโ!
We still find it incredibly fulfilling to know that we can crochet without having to find large blocks of time that cut into the regular day. Finding time that we didn’t know we had and making something gorgeous with that time, is still one of the best things about crochet. We created this blog to share this love – and hopefully to inspire other busy people to find bits and pieces of time to produce something beautiful and creative!ย
Finally, one of the most amazing things about crochet is how it connects people. We didnโt realize this at first, but modern crochet designs and crocheted garments bring us closer to strangers who stop to ask about a handmade sweater. Also to our family across the world through boxes of clothes we send them and to friends in our crochet clubs where we combine great food and stitching each month. Last but not least, to an incredible online community of designers and fiber artists sharing ideas, inspiration, and free crochet patterns.
